Plant refurbishment

It’s taken us a while to assemble a top quality team of engineers and craftsmen to tackle full plant repair, servicing and overhauls up to 50 tonnes under one roof.

Our latest candidate was a much loved but pretty scruffy Kobelco 9-tonne excavator with plenty of hours on the clock but plenty more left to give.

The owners – regionally-based groundworkers with a full order book of some much needed mass housing schemes to deliver – made the wise choice to reinvest in a known quantity.

The alternatives were to either let it limp on into unreliability and decline causing inevitable static from  their team of operators, or to buy brand new and suffer the inflationary pricing and/or crippling interest rates still required for capex without impacting cashflow.

The pictures focus on the painting phase but were only part of a suite of works carried out including;

  • Extensive inspection and detailed report for customer
  • Full pin and rebushing of excavating gear
  • Line boring of swing turret bores
  • Overhaul and line boring of quick hitch mechanism
  • Overhaul of blade swinging arms
  • Replacement cutting edges/teeth on the blade and buckets
  • Full 5,000 hour service
  • 3-colour re-spray including detailing and reinstatement of manufacturers decals
