P J Steel, Tanners Brook, Lewes
Tight budgets and even tighter spaces seem to be the order of the day in the loft conversion and building refurbishment trades these days. When it came to delivering and lifting steel beams and roof members ‘to structure’ at a site in Lewes with nothing but a few residential parking bays to work on, mobile crane solutions were certainly out of the question. To further complicate matters, the site was adjacent to the main South coast railway lines. We loaded a supertruck equipped with remote controls at the steel fabricators. The operator was able to access the roof top destination for the beams, off loaded and placed them exactly where the building crew wanted them, all whilst working his crane standing at arms length to his workmates 4 stories up.
