We were contacted by a bridge manufacturer back in the spring about working with them again – this time to facilitate a difficult RoW (Right of Way) bridge replacement.
The old wooden bridge had been condemned, but people were still determined to use it, despite every effort being made to restrict public access.
Various meetings and assessments followed, before Bracknell Forest Council contracted us to deliver a turnkey solution for:
- Receiving, unloading and storing a 16.25m-long bridge in our Sussex headquarters
- Facilitating sub-contractor access for railing fixtures, etc.
- Installing a 400m section of Tuff Trak heavy duty temporary access across a sensitive water meadow, part of which covered a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
- Planning the lift and installation of the bridge
- Delivering road transport to the site
- Transferring the bridge from the highway to the lift zone
- Lifting and installing the bridge over the river
What’s more, all of this was required within just five days!
However, thanks to the sterling efforts of Ryan and the Southdown team, we finished the job within four days, and handed the site back to the council over a day early.
Well done team!
